Zhejiang Industry

General situation

The industry still has an increase. The added value of the whole industry is 310.5 billion yuan, up 11%, including 178.1 billion yuan of the added value from the state owned enterprises and non-enterprises whose earnings are more than 5 million yuan up 12.5% and 96.2 billion yuan from light industry up 11.7% with 81.9 billion yuan from heavy industry up 13.7%.

The structure of the industry has been adjusting. The reform and adjust to the traditional fields has stepped forward. In 2001 the added value of textile, clothes, leather and machinery industry of over a certain scale is 92.82 billion-yuan covering 51.6% of the whole added value of this scale up 1.1% than last year. The new and high technology industry has a further development and the new products have a high increase. The added value of the new and high technology industry in the year is 31.05 billion yuan up 14.6%. The value of new products is 57.3 billion yuan up 32.3%.

The linking between the produce and sale is very good with excellent economic profit. The sale rate of the industrial products is 97.1% in the year up 0.04%. The seven indexes of economic profit reached the highest in 90s up 4.2% with 14.2. The yearly revenue is 81.57 billion yuan up 19%, with 45.18 profit up 26.7%.

Infrastructure

The investment in infrastructure has been strengthened. The investment in infrastructure is 81.9 billion yuan up 16.6% than last year covering 63.1% of the whole investment in infrastructure and reconstruction. The investment in water conservancy is 4.6 billion yuan up 1.6% with communication 15.5 billion yuan up 29.1%.

The important projects develop well. The projects under construction of provincial level and nation level are 324. The finished projects were 78 including Hangzhou Agricultural Network, Zhejiang Telecom CSM, The Jinhua-Lishui-Wenzhou highways, etc.

There are 2413 infrastructure projects and 1915 reconstruction projects. The added fixed asset is 122.9 billion-yuan.

The exploration and investment of real estate develops quickly. In 2001 the investment in it 53.6% up 50.4%. The added value of the real asset is 14.3 billion yuan up 14.7% than last year. The operation area is 62.42 million square kilometers up 43.7% with 20.04 million square kilometers of finished area up 32.8% and 17.36 million square kilometers up 32.2%.

Light and textile industry

Light and textile industry is one of the support industries in Zhejiang Province and the developed light and textile industry is one of the industrial features of this province, whose total output and export volume both rank the first places in China .

Presently, its production field and export scale are constantly expanded to form a complete system meeting the demands of both home and abroad markets and meanwhile many strong enterprises and famous brand products such as Wahaha, Nice, Youngor, Shanshan, Feiyue, Talia, and Zhonghua Beer were developed and cultured. Export of light and textile industry products is rapidly developed and its comparative advantage becomes much remarkable.

The export of textile, garment, leather, and arts and handicrafts keeps the leading position in the export of provincial industrial products. And more, many advantageous products have a much high competitive power in domestic markets. this province has the domestic comparative advantage in many fields such as textile, garment, fiber, leather, fur, metallic and plastic products, stationery and sports products, and household electrical appliances. Its output of silk and silk products, pure chemical fiber cloth and dyed and printed cloth, fur and leather garments, canned foods, range exhaust, and refrigerator-purpose compressor ranks first and the output of garment ranks second in China. Its many products enjoy high prestige in both home and abroad markets, such as wool, beverage, sewing machine, bicycle, soap,diary products, machine-made paper, paperboard, plastic products, and leather shoes and their output ranks in the first place in China . Many of its traditional products also get a further development and are welcome in international markets, such as Dongyang wooden carving, Qingtian Stone Carving, Boxwood Carving, Longquan Celadon, Ou Sculpture, Lace, Drawnwork and Embroidery.

Building materials industry

Building materials industry is one of the support industries of Zhejiang province and presently it involves in building materials and their products, non-metallic minerals and their deep processing and inorganic non-metallic materials.

During its development of building materials industry in Zhejiang Province , distinguishing features are formed. First, the industry is regionally divided. On basis of the conditions of resources and traffic the cement base is formed in North-, Middle- and West-Zhejiang, the glass manufacture base in Hangzhou and Shaoxin, the non-metallic minerals base in South-Zhejiang,and new building materials development zones in the central cities along Shanghai-Hangzhou-Ningbo (Hu-Hang-Yong) Expressway.

Secondly, the economic structure is diversified and the state-run, collective, rural, and private enterprises all engage in building materials.

Thirdly, the varieties are much complete and have respective characteristics. The traditional building materials mainly include cement, glass, and solid clay brick and the new building materials there also get great development. The artificial crystal of Jiaojiang, FRP products of Wenzhou and Shangyu, and reinforcement glass fiber of Tongxiang all occupy an important position in the similar trade. The resource of Shengzhou diatomite and Lin'an bentonite and the development level of their products all keep the domestic leading level.

Fourthly, Zhejiang is rich in resources of non-metallic minerals and has good basic conditions. The processing technology of non-metallic minerals is fast developed and the application fields are constantly expanded.
