General situation

It is the first year that the provincial government began to reform the cereal purchasing and selling in 2001. Developing effect and profit agriculture and performing the strategic structure adjustment result in the prospective future. The working conditions of agriculture have been further improved and the economy in countryside has increased.

More and more economic crops have been planted replacing the cereals, which has made their proportion more reasonable. In 2001, the cereal planting area is 1875600 hectare, down 16% compared with last year and the total amount of it reached 10558 million tons, down 11.8% compared with last year. The area of vegetable, sugar cane and medicinal materials is 628 hectare, 17.4 hectare and 19.7 hectare separately, up 10.4%, 6.4% and 19.9%. The area of flowers is 33.9 hectares, up 99.1% and the area proportion of cash crop and cereal has changed from 35:65 last year to 41:59 in 2001.

The working situation of the agricultural industry has been improved when the capability of resisting nature disaster is further developed. In 2001, the irrigating area in effect was 1400300 hectare and 1006300 hectare of ensuring stable yields despite drought or excessive rain. By the end of 2001, the total power of agricultural machines is 20.172 million voltages, up 11.7%.

Forestry

The forestry develops smoothly and about 21570 hectare has been finished in the year, with 152700 hectare of young growth woods and 1269400 hectare of cultivating forest by sealing the mountains pass among which there is 785100 hectare of cultivating forest.

Stockbreeding

The development of stockbreeding industry is good. The main products have increased a lot with abundant supply. More than 16.693 million pigs have been sold a year, up 7.5% compared with last year; the total product of meat reaches 1.361 million tons up 10%.

Fishery

The fishery industry has a smooth development. In 2001, the aquatic product in the whole province has reached 4.729 million tons up 0.7% than last year, with a total value of 30.088 billion yuan up 3.7%.
